Summary

(Total vacancies are to be treated as experimental, only data for 2008 are available)

  • three month rates have fallen every year since 2004 and in each of the key staff groups rates are now below 1.0 per cent
  • total vacancies in the main staff groups range between 3.6 per cent for Medical and Dental staff and 1.2 per cent (estimated) for GPs
  • the number of posts that have been open for more than three months in relation to the total vacancies varies across the main staff groups from about one in four for doctors (including GPs), one in five for nurses to about one in six for Scientific Technical & Therapeutic (ST&T) staff.
