Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE), England - 2013, Experimental statistics
These are the results from the 2013 Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE) programme which replaced the former Patient Environment Action Team (PEAT) programme from April 2013. These self-assessments are undertaken by teams of NHS and private/independent health care providers, and, for the first time, include at least 50 per cent members of the public (known as patient assessors). They focus on the environment in which care is provided, as well as supporting non-clinical services such as cleanliness, food, hydration, and the extent to which the provision of care with privacy and dignity is supported.
These documents were re-published on 31st October 2013 to:
Include the results for Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust which were excluded from earlier editions. The inclusion of this Trust's results has an impact on the National Averages for all domains of the assessment and additionally alters the number of sites included in the assessment programme from 1,358 to 1,359 and the number of participating organisations from 274 to 275;
Correct the calculation of the National Average for Food and the organisational scores for Food which included bed numbers at sites which declared themselves as Self Catering and which should have been excluded. This has an impact on the National Average for Food, the Organisational Scores for those with sites declared as Self Catering, and the bandwidths shown on Page 24 of the Publication Report. However no results at site level are affected;
Correct the bandwidths shown for Condition Appearance and Maintenance at the Organisational level on Page 22 of the Publication Report in the 80% - 84.99% range to 31 (11.3%) (previously32 (11.7%) and in the 85% - 89.99% range to 85 (30.9%) (previously 84 (30.7%);
Correct the number of assessment days shown on Page 9 of the Publication Report from 1,549 to 1,671. This has no impact on any other aspect of the publication.
The table on Page 14 of the Publication Report was amended in a previous version of the Publication Report to correct a transposition error in the Bandwidths for cleanliness at the 90 per cent - 94.9 per cent and 95 per cent - 99.99 per cent ranges and this has ben incorporated in this re-publication.
