Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE), England 2014

These are the results from the 2014 Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE) programme which replaced the former Patient Environment Action Team (PEAT) programme from April 2013. These self-assessments are undertaken by teams of NHS and private/independent health care providers, and include at least 50 per cent members of the public (known as patient assessors). They focus on the environment in which care is provided, as well as supporting non-clinical services such as cleanliness, food, hydration, and the extent to which the provision of care with privacy and dignity is supported.

Note: The tables on Page 27 - 31 of the Publication Report contain an error relating to the inclusion in the London Commissioning Region of data relating to hospitals outside that area. All the hospitals involved are from the larger independent healthcare providers whose head offices are based in London but whose hospitals are found throughout England. Revised figures for 2014 for London Commissioning Region and separate figures for those providers with sites across multiple Commissioning Regions will be published in the 2015 PLACE publication scheduled for mid-August 2015.
