Sexual and Reproductive Health Activity Data Set (SRHAD) Collection

BAAS Reference: R00308
Frequency: Quarterly

Background to the collection

The Sexual and Reproductive Health Activity Data set (SRHAD) came into effect on 1 April 2010. It consists of anonymised patient-level data submitted on a quarterly basis. SRHAD replaces the annual, aggregate KT31 return and provides a much richer source of contraceptive and sexual health data for a range of uses from commissioning to national reporting.

The last collection for KT31 was for the period ending 31 March 2014 and is now retired. From Q1 2014 all data providers will be required to submit SHRAD.

The SRHAD extract is submitted in CSV (comma-separated values) format to the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) via Data Depot, which is a secure file-transfer tool. Further information will be provided to customers upon notification that they are in a position to start submitting a SRHAD return.

There are 2 sets of guidance on the right. The top guidance is for those services that have had the new changes implemented as per the latest ISN below.

The SRHAD data is collected on behalf of Public Health England and complements the GUMCAD2 data collection. Further details can be found on the Public Health England website.

Launch and submission dates

SRHAD data extracts will be run quarterly by the SRH service, 6 weeks after the end of the quarter (financial).
