Euroking maternity information system: safety alert

A National Patient Safety Alert has been issued by the NHS England National Patient Safety Team on identified safety risks with the Euroking maternity information system. Full details of the alert and the identified risks can be found at:

https://www.england.nhs.uk/publication/national-patient-safety-alert-identified-safety-risks-with-the-euroking-maternity-information-system/

This National Patient Safety Alert has been issued around identified safety risks relating to technical issues with the Euroking maternity information IT system, used by some NHS trusts.

These technical issues may lead to inaccurate clinical records in some circumstances.

NHS England will be working with Trusts to understand any impact these technical issues have had on Maternity Services Data Set (MSDS) submissions and the indicators released in this publication series. Any findings from these investigations will be made available on this page in future.

If you have any questions about the impact of these risks on MSDS data or statistics, or any information about these risks that you feel would be helpful to others, please contact us at [email protected] quoting ‘MSDS: Euroking Alert’ in the subject.

Maternity Services Data Set (MSDS): this is a patient-level data set that captures information about activity carried out by Maternity Services relating to a mother and baby(s), from the point of the first booking appointment until mother and baby(s) are discharged from maternity services. This is a secondary uses data set, which re-uses clinical and operational data for purposes other than direct patient care.
