Around 1.4 million people make up the NHS workforce in England, all contributing towards its overall effectiveness. Staffing is the single largest cost within the health system, so efforts to improve quality and reduce costs are often dependent on workforce data.

The Workforce Statistics team are responsible for the collection, validation and publication of data across primary and secondary care. Find out more about everything we do below.

General Practice Workforce

Monthly publication presenting FTE and headcount numbers of staff working in general practice. Data presented in tables at staff group, job role, demographics and ICB-level breakdowns.
